The land of Windmills,wooden clogs,tulip farms and the home of master painters like  Van gogh…….you guessed it right,its Netherlands(also know as Holland).The word Netherland is a combination of two words i.e nether(in ducth written as neder)meaing “low” and land.Its name suggest its topography ,with more than a quarter of its total are under the sea level.The country is a constitutional monarchy an gained the status of a republic in the 16^th century.

                         Though netherland is a very small country but is has a lot to offer to those who want to travel and search what it stands for. The Netherlands has produced many of the world's most famous artists from Rembrandt and Vermeer in the 17^th  century to Van Gogh in the 19th and Mondrian in the 20^th century.Its most famous for its tulip farms,its windmills, the “little netherland”miniature city and the International Court of justice at Hague.

                Dutch cultural life stands for tolerance,variety and liveliness. The long-enduring tradition of Dutch freedom of expression has undoubtedly played a remarkable role in the flowering of Dutch culture through the ages and can be seen through the works of Vincent van Gogh, Piet Mondrian , writer Pieter Corneliszoon Hooft and philosopher Baruch Spinoza,to name a few. Holland is proud to have six monuments on the World Heritage List(that is list of buildings and areas with outstanding value and therefore included in UNESCO’s World heritage Preservation List). 

         We have talked enough about the hackneyed details of Holland, something that almost anyone can tell you……Holland has to offer much more than windmills.tulips and Van Gogh!
