  • Ex-flyboy ,captured during the Vietnam war and released in 1973.
  • 76yeras old,  Indiana Republican
  • Also know as John Wayne Mc Cain due to his tough talking regarding American and World politics specially because of his stance over the events that unfolded as an aftermath of the 9/11
  • Vietnam war taught him the lesson  that “war is a terrible thing and you don’t need to go in unless you are prepared to win and get it over with. This stance  turned him into an advocate  of  what is know as the Powell Doctrine ie”donot commit Us troops unless the mission and exit strategy are clear and overwhelming force is applied. Then give your military and your allies, full unstinting support.”Mc Cain applied this lesson in 2003 as he realized that the US military was highly unmanned in Iraq.
  • He has got immense  experience, due to the various positions he has had an opportunity to serve in  ie,as Naval Liaison, as Congressman and as a Senator.
  • Basically known to endorse the use of force and power ,when they are required. However he is not an eager warmonger. He was a staunch opponent of  deployment of US marines in Beirut in 1983 during Ronald Reagan’s tenure, he was also publicly leery of committing Us troops to a ground war after Sadam Hussain ‘s tanks rolled into Kuwait in 1990.He resisted what he saw as muddled interventions in Somalia and initially in Bosnia. But after the massacre of thousands of Muslim men in Srebrenica he endorsed the bombing campaign. But in late 1990s Mc Cain was among the singers of Iraq Liberation Act, calling for an overthrown of Saddam.
  • John Mc Cain hero worships Teddy Roosevelt and is the proponent of Roosevelts”national –greatness conservatism”
  • It’s fair to expect a McCain presidency to be a harder-edged one than Obama’s.Like his forefathers, McCain believes in “victory”, sees a world made up of enemies and friends and is determined to show resolve above all.His passionate advocacy of his friend,Mikheil Saakashvilli, his open detestation of Russian Prime Minister Vladmir putin and his refusal to talk to Tehran could well produce aseries of confrontations.
