| Japanese American Citizens League http://www.downtown-los-angeles-jacl.org The Downtown Los Angeles Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League is one of the oldest nonprofit civil rights groups in the nation. Formed in 1929, the Downtown JACL celebrated 80 years of community service. They annually co-sponsor the Woman of the Year awards program with the Southern California Japanese Womens Society that is held in Little Tokyo. They also help raise money for the Holiday Cheer program to provide financial checks for needy families during the holidays. They also help sponsor an outing for senior citizens to a Los Angeles Dodgers Game. (Read more) |
